Remove sticky footer behavior (CSS)

Right now the footer area is set to display a sticky behavior, which means that if the sidebar runs past a certain length, parts of it are covered and get a scroll bar.

I would like to know what CSS I need to set to remove the sticky behavior of the footer. Thanks.

Your theme is doing it's normal thing at the bottom, and I want to make it do something different:

By default, it does that. I just need to know what the CSS needs to be for it NOT to do that. I want the footer area always at the very bottom w/ no sticky behavior.

I have not seen an update to the theme, this is still an issue. Please either resolve this on your end or let me know what I need to tweak on my end to remove the sticky behavior of the footer.

    Hello,

Can you confirm which version you're on? You can see it from the Theme Settings > bottom of the page.

    Thanks.

    Kindest regards.

    Baptiste.

I logged in and out of the site, and right now I cannot see that behavior anymore. I have no idea what changed. I think this is resolved. Thanks.

OK, so it appears this is not resolved, because I just happened upon a page that STILL displays that behavior. Plese get back with me at your earliest convenience.

It seems to come and go, depending on what is going on on the page. If I have a short page, but a long sidebar, it seems to display the sticky behavior. If I have a longer page, but the same sidebar, the behavior is not there.

And some screenshots and links to the relevant pages.

    Thanks.

The site is hosted internally on a server that is not accessible from the outside. I could not give you access if I wanted to, you'd have to have network access and VPN in, which won't happen.

That said, I am sure you can tell me how to get rid of that sticky behavior without logging in, and I have provided you with numerous screenshots. I will attach a few more here.

Basically: long page, short sidebar - footer stays at the bottom; short page, long sidebar - footer displays sticky behavior. The latter is what we need to fix, and fast. Thank you.

    Hello Solfie,

Thank you for the details and sorry for the bit of waiting here. I understand your requirement now, you have options to control the sidebar behavior including its scrollbar, scroll top arrow etc in your WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Theme Settings > Sidebar. Please, let me know if it helps, have a nice day,

    Kind Regards,

    Marcos

None of the options available solve the issue. The sticky footer behavior remains.

    Hello Sofie,

Will show you how to do that with some CSS. For now, can you make sure you have Woffice 2.7.1.1 installed on your side: http://hub.alka-web.com/woffice/changelog so we're on the same line

Marcos made some good changes to the sticky behavior in the last updates.

Make sure to also refresh your browser's cache.

    Kind Regards,

    François

    Hello Sofie,

You are trying to re-install the theme here. So it won't work because it's already installed. That what the error says from your screenshot.

To update the theme you have 2 ways detailed here:

    https://alkaweb.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/WOF/pages/229722/Updates+Licenses

    - Auto update, you need to set it up with your purchase code (see article)

    - Manual update:

    1. Login to your server with your favorite FTP client
    2. Go to wp-content/themes/
    3. Rename woffice/ as woffice-old/
    4. Upload the new woffice.zip and unzip it there. You should have woffice/ and woffice-old/
    5. Delete woffice-old

Please let me know if you need further details.

    Kind Regards,

    François

OK, so this update did not fix it. Can I now get the CSS AT LAST?

  •  485
    François replied

    Hello,

Okay, I had a look, actually the way it's working is that the footer will always be after the main content box. The sidebar's height depends on the content's length and won't have any effect or be affected by the footer.

The only way I found for you to get rid of this behavior is to set a default min-height for you page content.

You can do that by adding this CSS in your Theme Settings > Custom CSS field:

    body #main-content{min-height: 2000px !important;}

Make sure to update the 2000px with your sidebar's height value in px.

    I hope that helps

    Kind Regards,

    François
