We updated our Woffice theme to 2.6.0 hoping to have WPBakery Visual Composer update as well. Unfortunately WPBakery did not update. We keep getting a message to activate the plugin. Are there some steps we are missing in updating this plugin?
Thank you for getting in touch. You should try a manual update via FTP for the Visual Composer, the update via WordPress Dashboard is only available for those with a personal license, we use an extended license which enable us to bundle premium plugins with themes for sales (see:https://help.market.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/213762463-Bundled-Plugins). You can find more details on how to make manual updates via FTP at: https://alkaweb.ticksy.com/article/5197/. Please, let me know if you need any further details, have a nice day.

Keen on Woffice ? Please take a few seconds to give us a 5-star review on ThemeForest.
Hi Marcos, The company I work for has a purchased Woffice license from Theme Forest, so I was under the impression this is a "personal license". Is this not the case? If we were to update using FTP where do we get the new WPBakery/Visual Composer files? We were able to update the theme through Wordpress no problem - just Visual Composer (which is assumed to be built in to our purchase of a "personal license") didn't update. I feel like I'm missing some steps here - even with the links provided. Am I supposed to download the updated theme as a zip, and then get the updated WP Bakery/Visual Composer that way (as in: FTP the updated plugin files from the updated theme folders)?
Thank you for the details. Regarding your questions, here are the answers:
1 - The company I work for has a purchased Woffice license from Theme Forest, so I was under the - impression this is a "personal license". Is this not the case?
Alhtough you have a license for Woffice, when using the Visual Composer plugin bundled with Woffice you are covered by the extended (developer) license we own to bundle it with our theme.
2 - If we were to update using FTP where do we get the new WPBakery/Visual Composer files?
You find all the bundled plugins inside woffice/inc/plugins directory from your Theme Forest downloaded package.
3 - Am I supposed to download the updated theme as a zip, and then get the updated WP Bakery/Visual Composer that way (as in: FTP the updated plugin files from the updated theme folders)?
Yeah you will need to download the updated theme from your Theme Forest, unzip it and browser to the woffice/inc/plugins directory to get the updated plugins files, then you can use our provided instructions previously (https://alkaweb.ticksy.com/article/5197/) to update your online files.
Please, let me know if it clarifies. Have a nice day.
Thanks for your help. It's appreciated.
Currently: a. I downloaded the latest theme package (2.6.0) from Themeforestb. I uploaded the plugins according to the instructions you linked to (js-composer is the one of interest)c. Wordpress still says there is a newer version of the WPBakery Page Builder (apparently I have 5.4.5, and it now says update to version 5.4.7 is available)So...1. Did the plugin update? Should I have version 5.4.5? 5.4.7?2. What version of WPBakery am I entitled to through this theme and when?3. Every time it updates, how do I get the update from you? Do I need to go to Themeforest each time, download the latest package, and then upload the plugin via FTP? ...So ignore the "plug-in" update until the theme is updated?4. If I want to update more consistently, should I purchase my own "personal license" of Visual Composer/WPBakery? We were attempting to avoid this since it was a "promised plug-in" as part of your advertising. Your theme works great - but the information surrounding this plug-in and how it is provided is a little bit confusing. Thanks for your time.Cheers.Martin
Thank you for the details. As said before you will only need a personal license, if you need to update your premium plugin on a rate more frequently than what we do with woffice, since we update theme in rate different the WPBakery do, chances are we could end up with a version a bit oudated at theme release date.
This souldn't be a source of trouble since most updates are simple features improvements and not a big change from a subversion number to other. For those covered by our extended license the approach will be dowloading theme files and manually updating plugin files via FTP. Please, let me know if you need any additional details. Have a nice day.
